Paul Schliefsteiner was interviewed for the weekend edition of the Italian newspaper Il Foglio (March 29/30, 2025) regarding the recently uncovered alleged Russian influence operations.
In the interview, Schliefsteiner emphasized that the case suggests the suspected network surrounding former Wirecard executive Jan Marsalek is likely much larger and more active than previously assumed.
He also pointed out that the latest allegations once again highlight that Austria is a target of foreign influence efforts – and how crucial close cooperation with international partner services is in such cases.
