Radical protests, targeted disinformation, hatred on social media and violence against those who think differently – extremist ideologies are omnipresent and increasingly encroaching on our daily lives. The Covid-19 pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the recent escalation in the Middle East following the Hamas attack on October 7 have further pushed the boundaries of what is considered extreme and sparked new social debates about what is acceptable.
In this lecture series, leading experts from academia and practice will take a critical look at the most significant extremist movements of our time. Together with the participants, the various forms of extremism will be analyzed and discussed.
The lecture is open to the public and is organized by the Institute for Legal Studies, the Extremism Prevention Office Styria and the Austrian Center for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (ACIPSS), with the support of the University of Graz.
Course details:
– ECTS credits: 3
– Time: Wednesdays, 17:15-18:45 (start on October 9)
