Topic of the event:
The COVID-19 pandemic has strongly influenced the spread of conspiracy theories. Conspiracy narratives that portray democratic institutions and social values as part of secret machinations threaten social cohesion. In the discussion, we will explore the link between extremist ideologies and conspiracy theories and talk about how radicalized beliefs can lead to violence.
Speaker:
Philipp Pflegerl, research associate at the Federal Center for Sectarian Issues and expert on conspiracy theories, will provide insights into his research and experiences.
