How is security policy developed in everyday parliamentary life? This question is the subject of a joint course offered by ACIPSS and the Institute for Legal Studies, which takes students directly to the central location for security policy decisions: the Austrian Parliament in Vienna.
Through exchanges with members of the National Council – in particular from the Committee on Internal Affairs – and with representatives of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, participants gain insight into current issues such as counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and police cooperation, as well as parliamentary decision-making and control mechanisms.
The excursion combines academic teaching with political practice and shows how internal security in Austria is negotiated politically, shaped legally, and implemented in practice.
Location: Austrian Parliament, Vienna
