Cooperation with the University of Graz

University of Graz and ACIPSS launch joint initiative in security research

Last week, our new cooperation with the University of Graz was presented at a joint press conference. Together, we aim to establish an academically grounded research focus on intelligence services, extremism, and hybrid threats – for the first time in this form in Austria.

The objective of this cooperation is to create a competence center that will analyze current security policy developments from an interdisciplinary perspective and provide research-based insights for society, policymakers, and security authorities.

The initiative is supported by the University of Graz and was shaped by Rector Dr. Peter Riedler, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gabriele Schmölzer (Dean of the Faculty of Law), Univ.-Prof. Dr. Anita Ziegerhofer (Head of the Institute for Foundations of Law), and Univ.-Prof. Dr. Sascha Ferz (Head of Department).

ACIPSS contributes over 20 years of research experience in the fields of intelligence, propaganda, extremism, and hybrid warfare. With the Journal for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (JIPSS) and a wide range of international projects, we are recognized as one of the leading security research institutions in the German-speaking world.

A central element of the cooperation is the close connection to practical application, including collaboration with the Directorate for State Protection and Intelligence Services (DSN). Dr. Silvia Mayer, Deputy Director of the DSN, supports the project and took part in the press conference.
