On November 14, 2025, the Austrian Maritime Conference 2025 (#AMC25) will take place at the University of Graz—a high-profile conference on Austria’s role in the global maritime context. Organized by ACIPSS in cooperation with the Faculty of Law at the University of Graz and other partner institutions, the conference brings together leading experts from academia, politics, diplomacy, and security policy.
Despite its geographical location as a landlocked country, Austria’s security and prosperity are closely linked to developments on the world’s oceans – from trade routes and maritime infrastructure to geopolitical tensions. Under the motto “Dependent but powerless?”, the conference will address key issues of maritime security, international obligations, and future scope for action.
Location: University of Graz, Meeting Room SZ 15.21 (REWI)
Date: Friday, November 14, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (participation by personal invitation only)
The #AMC25 is part of a multi-year research project by ACIPSS and highlights Austria’s hitherto little-discussed but highly relevant role in the maritime age.
Further information and a conference report will follow after the event.
