On Friday, 23 September, an “ACIPSS Study Conference” was held for the third time at the FH Campus Wien – again in cooperation with the Department of Risk and Security Management and the Association of Academic Security Consultants of Austria (VASBÖ). Thomas Goiser (ACIPSS representative in Vienna) moderated a very dense and multifaceted morning with the topic “People and (digital) organisations” for the expert audience from politics, authorities, emergency organisations and companies.
After an online video message from Digitalisation State Secretary Florian Tursky, Department Head Martin Langer gave a very descriptive presentation on basic theories of disaster prevention. Claudia Körmer from the department presented the most important results of the KIRAS project AQUS II.
Two lectures dealt with digitalisation in a narrower sense: Stefan Auer from ACIPSS spoke about “Status quo of the medial space – challenge for society”. The title of the lecture by Dietmar Pichler, founder of the Centre for Digital Media Competence, was “Disinformation, now what?”.
Finally, FH Campus Wien graduate Lukas Turk. presented the results of his Master’s thesis. In it, he explored how the “Austrian Forces Disaster Relief Unit” (AFDRU) could be effective in national disaster operations.
