University of Graz, RESOWI Center, Room 15.23 (Building C2)

Digital games are an integral part of many children’s and teenagers’ leisure activities – yet they are also a source of concern for parents and educators. But where exactly lies the line between passion and addiction?

In his lecture, Dr. Markus Meschik will present current research findings and practical insights on digital gaming, addiction, and violence.

Topics include:

  • Pathological gaming behavior – characteristics and approaches in educational practice
  • Spending & in-game purchases – subscription models, legal aspects, and financial risks
  • Violence & representation – links between game content and real-world aggression

About the speaker:
Dr. Markus Meschik heads the enter counseling center in Graz, which advises families and professionals on the use of digital media in education. He is an expert for the Federal Office for the Positive Classification of Digital Games (BuPP) at the Austrian Federal Chancellery, and lectures at the University of Graz and the FH Joanneum.

A discussion will follow the presentation.

The event is organized by ACIPSS in cooperation with SICHER LEBEN.
