Pantier Report No. 01/2025 published: Disinformation warfare in times of crisis?

Disinformation is no longer a marginal phenomenon—it influences public debate, jeopardizes democratic processes, and poses a strategic challenge for politics, the media, and society.

How great is the threat of disinformation to our democracy really?
What measures can we take to defend ourselves effectively against it?

These and other key questions are addressed in the new Pantier Report No. 01/2025 entitled “Disinformation warfare in times of crisis? What really helps against information operations,” written by Prof. Dr. Matthias C. Kettemann (University of Innsbruck).

As the Austrian Center for Intelligence, Propaganda, and Security Studies (ACIPSS), we have been intensively engaged in strategic communication, disinformation, and digital influence for many years. With the Pantier Report, we aim to make informed contributions to security policy education and develop concrete courses of action for decision-makers.

We pursue this goal in close cooperation with our partner SICHER LEBEN (https://sicherlebengraz.at), with whom we also make security-related topics accessible to a broader public.

In this context, the Pantier Report provides compact, fact-based analyses of current challenges in the fields of security studies, intelligence, and propaganda research.
