With the new Pantier Report No. 09 “Austria in the Maritime Century,” ACIPSS presents an up-to-date and concise analysis of the growing importance of the maritime domain for Austria. Published in November 2025 by Jeremy Stöhsand Paul Trautendorfer, the report shows that despite being landlocked, Austria is highly dependent on global maritime trade, international ports, energy imports, and digital subsea infrastructure.
The report highlights economic, security-related, and ecological dimensions and clearly calls for the development of a national maritime agenda as well as stronger international cooperation in order to sustainably strengthen Austria’s position in the maritime 21st century.
