Historical Traces: Austria’s Position in Espionage Dynamics Since the Cold War

The espionage scandal surrounding the suspicions that information was passed on to Russian services also has an interesting historical dimension. In various press interviews, historian and affiliated researcher at ACIPSS Dieter Bacher sees these activities as part of historical developments from the Cold War and categorized them based on previous research on
intelligence services in Austria. One thing in particular becomes clear: that although Austria has been an important area of operation since the Cold War, it has rarely been the target of such activities.
