Maritime security is a key factor in global stability – especially at strategic chokepoints such as the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil shipments passes. Recent tensions surrounding Iran have clearly demonstrated how vulnerable international supply chains are and how quickly geopolitical conflicts can impact energy supplies, trade, and fuel prices.
This event will examine the security implications of maritime spaces and the impact of current developments in the Middle East on Europe and Austria.
Speakers:
Prof. Gerhard Hafner, Ph.D. – Expert in international law and international maritime law
Jeremy Stöhs, Ph.D. – Deputy Director of ACIPSS and expert in maritime security
