On August 30, 2024, the Tagesspiegel published an interview with ACIPSS Director Paul Schliefsteiner. In the interview, he was asked for an assessment of recent incidents in which incendiary devices were discovered in air freight shipments. It is suspected that this could be a Russian sabotage operation.
Schliefsteiner explained that the possible aim of these actions could be to affect logistics and business life as well as the public mood in Germany. However, he urged caution and warned against falling into “espionage hysteria”.
