Studied history and received his doctorate at the Karl-Franzens University of Graz. 2012, Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Peace Support and Conflict Management at the National Defence Academy, Vienna. Continued to do research there as Research Assistant until 2013.
From 2013 to 2018 he was working as a Research Fellow and later as a Senior Research Fellow at the Austrian Institute für European and Security Policy.
